Atlanta Boom is a non-profit organization. They play in the South Atlantic Section of the Southern Region in the USA Volleyball Association. Founded in 1996 the team is currently owned by Delroza and Arleen Hughes. Delroza played volleyball for the marines and assisted in coaching the Elite Marines volleyball team. Arleen Hughes played volleyball for Middle Tennessee State and won three state championships in high school. Atlanta Boom currently has two national championships one in 2003 and the other in 2005. Web. 21 Jul 2010. .〕 ==Organization== Atlanta Boom is designated as a club team because it is outside the school system. The club is housed in Adamsville Recreation Center. This organization has sixteen teams. These teams are composed of girls ages 13–18 from the metro Atlanta area and surrounding states. They have two types of teams each varying in competitiveness and time commitment. The first team is the diamond team and is considered to be the best team. The second team is the orange team which would be considered the second best. Both of the teams compete in the same division just on different levels. The levels are Power and club, power being the most competitive. Each team represented has a different ranking. The one that comes first is the higher team and the one that comes last is the lower team. All the teams hold twelve to fifteen players based on age group. There is not a recruitment process. The tryouts for all teams are held in November and last roughly two days.
